Geoffrey H. Short is an artist and photographer living in Auckland, New Zealand. After studying at the Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland in the 1980’s, he worked as a documentary photographer at the Waikato Museum in Hamilton. He then worked at Real Pictures, laboratory and gallery for the camera arts in Auckland, initially as a lab technician, then as gallery manager. From 1990 he freelanced as a commercial photographer, specializing in stills photography for film and television. In 2008 he returned to Elam to complete his degree, graduating in 2009 Bachelor of Fine Arts (Hons) with first class honours. Work from his graduating presentation is included in reGeneration2 – Tomorrow’s Photographers Today, a world-wide survey exhibition of student and recent graduate photography curated by the Musée de l’Elysée in Lausanne, Switzerland, and touring internationally. He was nominated for the Lacoste Elysée Prize 2010 and was a finalist in PhotoLucida Critical Mass 2011. His work is  featured in the book Pictures They Want to Make – Recent Auckland Photography published by PhotoForum Inc., New Zealand, May, 2013.
