Pecha Kucha New Zealand have posted videos of the talks presented at the PhotoForum Pecha Kucha Night, in June, 2011.
The Pecha Kucha format is 20 slides per presenter, with each slide shown for exactly twenty seconds. This is an interesting discipline, and tends to reduce the usual vague rambling associated with slide presentations. At a maximum of 6 minutes, 40 seconds, the presenter needs to keep to the point, and if it is boring, at least it won’t last long.
Most Pecha Kucha nights have a diverse range of presenters from different backgrounds and creative disciplines, from architecture to crochet. The PhotoForum Pecha Kucha is unusual in having all presenters from one discipline.
For my presentation, I spoke about the pleasures of unexpected outcomes, with particular reference to being nominated and making new work for the Lacoste Elysée Prize, 2010. Video of this talk can be seen here.
